Thinking of ripping everything out… but wondering if it’s worth selling?
The keypad says ADT Safewatch Pro Custom.
Here’s the panel in my basement…

You probably won’t get much for it. ADT is moving away from hardwired systems.

Why are they giving up on hardwired? Isn’t it widely accepted as better?

It is, but ADT likes to install quickly with cheaper parts. Hardwired takes more time and effort.
@Jason
Yep, hardwired setups are harder and take longer to install.

You really think they make decisions with your security as the main priority? Big companies want the fastest, cheapest installs to keep moving.
No one’s paying for it, but it could be fun to mess around with if you’re curious.
Any specific reason you’re removing it? It can be self-monitored for free, and the sensors are reusable.

Honestly, I’d probably skip having a system, but my partner insists on 24/7 monitoring, and we’re done paying $40+ monthly to ADT.
@Declan
You could reduce it to about $13/month or $7.50/month without cell backup with the Envisalink Duo or Envisalink 4. Just a few wires and button presses, and you’ve got low-cost monitoring. I use the $13/month plan and find it solid. 4G LTE + Internet backup.
@Ulysses
That’s close to what I pay with Alarm Relay/Watchlight.
@Declan
I have the same panel, and I’ve tried out a few monitoring companies. Got rid of my home phone and added a cell module. It’s rock solid and way better than WiFi setups.
@Declan
Still using mine here! If it’s already installed, it’s worth keeping because it’s super reliable. Why not have it? Adds security, can help on insurance, and practically pays for itself.
@Declan
Any monitoring company can take over this system, so you don’t have to stick with ADT. The Envisalink is a good route. That system is one of the most popular and easily fixable setups around.
@Declan
If you’re a bit handy, you can set it up with other boards and keep using the wired sensors. Ring has a board that works with wired sensors too.
You could replace the control unit with something like konnected.io.
The battery from my old system now powers my neighbor’s toddler’s toy car.
Didn’t find a use for the rest of it, though.
It’s around $90 on Amazon (Vista 20p). With the battery and keypad, you might make $50 on marketplace.
The Ademco cell unit has a bit of value. The keypad could sell for about $50.
I swapped mine for Ring. They have a kit to convert hardwired sensors, so you don’t have to replace those.
