Help… Safe Haven Security or Scam?

I just bought my first house and this guy from Safe Haven showed up offering me an ADT system. He seemed legit, had a badge and everything, but asked for a bunch of personal stuff like the last four of my social, my card info, email, and set up an installation date. Now I’m freaking out because I haven’t gotten any email confirmation. Did I just get scammed? Should I call the social security office? I’m really nervous about this.

That sounds pretty shady… They shouldn’t need all that info. Just your card for the payment should be enough. Honestly, I would think about switching to a local business that’s certified by insurance. They probably wouldn’t ask for that kind of personal info.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll look into it.

I work for Safe Haven, and we ask for credit details because your credit has to be approved for the system. We’re ADT’s biggest dealer, and we have locations all over. I know it sounds like a lot, but it’s really just part of the process. Also, I saw another comment saying prices go up… not true for our new homeowner program. It’s a flat rate.

Yeah, we do need the last four digits for a soft credit pull.

I used to work for ADT corporate and Safe Haven for a while. I didn’t like some of Safe Haven’s business practices, but yeah, the rates will go up. Monitoring rates increase every year to cover costs, like the five monitoring centers they have. They’re constantly upgrading, paying people who answer your calls in the US. If rates didn’t go up, the service would go downhill. So, stop telling people the rates never increase—it’s misleading and makes people mad when they find out later.

Dude, cancel that ASAP. You don’t need a middleman. Just call ADT directly, and they’ll send out a rep. Way safer that way.

But going through ADT directly means paying full price. Safe Haven offers a more cost-effective solution for new homeowners. There’s a reason a lot of folks go with Safe Haven.

Safe Haven is a nightmare. They’ll set up the system, take your money, and disappear. Just Google them, and you’ll find tons of bad reviews.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with them.

My husband just got hired by Safe Haven for an outside sales role. Any tips on how he should start?

Tell him to be upfront with customers. Partner with realtors to get proper introductions to new homeowners. Honestly, though, tell him to keep looking for a better job. It’s tough to make money with Safe Haven.

ADT’s corporate system is frustrating. They’ll charge you a lot and offer little in return. Expect to be bounced between departments when you call. Authorized dealers exist for a reason. Some are great, others… not so much. Safe Haven pushes door-to-door sales with scripts like, ‘Didn’t your realtor tell you I was coming?’ It’s a lie. They should be honest, make appointments, and close deals without the BS.

Cancel it now. ADT is overpriced and their customer service sucks. You’ll regret it.

I work for Safe Haven. They should’ve sent you a work order email. If not, call the guy and ask for it. The info he requested is just to create your account and schedule installation. Also, we do a soft credit check to confirm you can handle the monthly payments. Our techs are certified, and ADT works closely with us. Safe Haven has been around for a long time. If you’re in doubt, you can always call ADT to confirm we’re legit.

Never use Safe Haven. I bought all their gadgets, and the service was awful. I tipped the rep $250, and he never answered my calls after that. Don’t waste your money. There are better companies out there.

You should never choose the cheapest option when it comes to protecting your family. Think about what’s really important here.

Which branch handled your setup? Just curious.

Where are you located? In the US, many states give you a cooling-off period after a sale like this, so you can change your mind if it feels too rushed.

I’m in South Carolina.
