I just bought my first house and this guy from Safe Haven showed up offering me an ADT system. He seemed legit, had a badge and everything, but asked for a bunch of personal stuff like the last four of my social, my card info, email, and set up an installation date. Now I’m freaking out because I haven’t gotten any email confirmation. Did I just get scammed? Should I call the social security office? I’m really nervous about this.

Where are you located? In the US, many states give you a cooling-off period after a sale like this, so you can change your mind if it feels too rushed.

I’m in South Carolina.

I have customers in Beaufort and Bluffton. I might be able to help.

You have a 3-day right to cancel. I’ve had customers back out before, even when I gave them thousands of dollars in gear for just $65/month. They had to return everything. Make sure you understand the agreement before signing anything!

Sounds legit, but ADT is really expensive. You can find better options at lower prices if you shop around.

I’ve been in this industry for over 10 years. In California, I can beat any price with better equipment and no upfront cost. What exactly are you comparing it to?

Here’s another perspective: https://safehavensecuritytips.com/why-are-monitored-home-security-systems-so-expensive/

Same thing happened to me. They asked for all that info over the phone. I ended up canceling after I looked up Safe Haven online.

What was the cancellation process like?

Pretty easy since I hadn’t signed anything yet.

Stay away from Safe Haven. They’re scammers.

I’ve had my Safe Haven system for 10 months, and I’m happy with it. I like the IQ4 panel, and I’ve saved money with my insurance because it’s professionally installed. Some people just expect free stuff, but good service isn’t cheap.
