Wireless security camera recommendations without subscription?

I currently have a Blink system at home but just realized it requires a subscription to record footage. Now, I can only view live streams, which is not ideal.

I’m looking for a security camera system that:

  • Records motion-triggered events
  • Keeps recordings for up to 30 days
  • Doesn’t require a subscription
  • Is budget-friendly

I need three cameras for my home and one camera for a cottage with internet. Ideally, I’d like to manage everything under one system. Any recommendations?

Check out Eufy cameras. They’re subscription-free and user-friendly.

Wyze cameras with SD cards are a great choice. I use them because I didn’t want to deal with batteries, and their basic cameras provide excellent value even without a subscription. I’ve got six of them.

@Edmund
I have 46 Wyze cameras, and they’ve worked well for me.

@Edmund
Does Wyze let you record 24/7? How’s the image quality when you zoom in? Also, how user-friendly is the app for accessing live or stored videos?

I agree with you—it’s frustrating that some systems charge for subscriptions after you’ve already bought the equipment. Either the cameras should be free, or there shouldn’t be a subscription.

For a wireless system with local storage, look for cameras with SD card slots or a compatible wireless NVR system. Eufy recently launched a wireless NVR—check out their website for more info. Other manufacturers might offer similar products.

I’m currently using Eufy cameras and love the experience. Highly recommend them.

For your needs (30 days of footage and no subscription), you might also consider Reolink. I’m planning to switch to an all-Reolink setup for my new house. A 4-camera wireless 4K PT NVR system with 2TB of storage costs around $647, which is reasonable.

Both Eufy and Reolink are solid options.

@Rex
I’ve had issues with my Reolink cameras. The bidirectional audio doesn’t work, and the internal battery often fails. If the battery stops working, the camera becomes useless. Also, accessing videos through their servers is slow and unreliable when you’re not on the same network.
