Why does Wyze force cooldown time unless you pay

Why does Wyze make it so you can’t set cooldown time to 0 seconds unless you pay for Cam Plus? That makes no sense. If I have an SD card, I should be able to record without waiting. Feels like they are just forcing people to subscribe.

This is how it’s always been. They aren’t going to give unlimited cloud storage for free.

I’m not talking about cloud storage, I’m talking about local recordings on my SD card.

There’s no cooldown period for SD card recordings. It records all motion events or continuously depending on your settings.

I see what you’re saying. Still, it’s frustrating that motion clips don’t save properly to the SD card. Feels like they did this on purpose to push subscriptions.

The camera does record motion clips to the SD card. You just have to check the right setting.

Cloud storage isn’t free. They at least let you get notifications and live viewing without paying, which some companies don’t.

I can get local motion recordings with Arlo without a subscription. The issue is that Wyze could allow this but chooses not to, just to push more subscriptions.

Wyze does let you record to an SD card and view it later. You just don’t get cloud storage for free. If they didn’t have a subscription model, the cameras would cost way more. Also, the word ‘extortionistic’ isn’t real.

I just switched to the Tapo 2K wireless cam, and it’s working well. It doesn’t have every feature Wyze does, but the battery lasts forever, and I don’t need a subscription to get alerts.

Wyze keeps changing things to push people into subscriptions. I moved on to other brands like TP-Link’s Tapo series. Works much better for me.

My TP-Link cameras do person detection, vehicle detection, line crossing, and more for free with local storage. Plus, notifications actually come when something happens, not after it’s already over like Wyze.
