I recently upgraded from an original wired doorbell to the new Video (Wired) Doorbell. I didn’t make any changes to the old doorbell hardware. Now, the physical doorbell makes a buzzing sound and softly chimes about 10-15 seconds later. I’m guessing it might be related to the new doorbell charging its battery, and this could be temporary. Does anyone know what might be causing this?
It could be that the new doorbell is drawing too much power from your transformer, causing the buzzing sound. You might want to check the voltage of your transformer to see if it matches the requirements for the new video doorbell.
I had the same issue when I installed my video doorbell. It turned out I needed a resistor or a bypass kit to fix the buzzing. You could try reaching out to the doorbell’s support team for specific advice.
It might be related to the wiring setup. If the legacy chime is mechanical, it could be reacting to the small current the new doorbell sends to keep its battery charged. A bypass kit or disabling the internal chime might resolve it.
You should also check if the wiring is compatible with the new video doorbell. Some older setups can cause buzzing or other issues. Upgrading the transformer might also help.
