I recently got a SimpliSafe system but only bought one camera. I live in a small one-story house, and I’m unsure if the front or back would be the best spot for it. Any advice?
It depends. If you place it in the front, like I did, you can monitor who comes and goes. You could also angle it to cover your driveway if that’s important.
Most thieves try to break in where they are least visible. They avoid areas where they might get caught.
Does someone have to pass through the front to get to the back? If yes, I’d suggest putting the camera in front. If no, then placing it in the back might make more sense. You might also consider adding a doorbell camera or motion sensor lights to increase coverage.
If you already have a video doorbell, then the back is probably the better spot for your camera. Statistics show that burglars often try entering through the back. That said, this time of year, cameras are often on sale, so you might want to grab another one for the front as well.
