What unique or lesser-known smart home devices do you own … Share your finds

I’ve integrated a Moodo scent diffuser with Homebridge, making it appear as four separate fans in my system. I can activate any scent combination with just a voice command or through the Home app.

My Jaguar e-Pace is also integrated with HomeBridge, allowing me to manage the car’s charging and door locks via Siri or the Home app.

I’ve connected my Miele Washing and Dryers with Homebridge, which lets me start them remotely and monitor their status from the Home app.

I’ve recently upgraded my Christmas light system to a quinled setup and also installed an outdoor air quality sensor that tracks airplane noise.

My house staff and family members are integrated into our Home system, allowing me to know which room they’re in based on the Wi-Fi connection to their devices. It’s a great way to keep track of everyone’s whereabouts without being intrusive.

That’s incredibly advanced. You definitely take the prize for the most integrated home!

I have a Levoit humidifier on my table that I can control from anywhere. It’s small, but it makes a big difference in our comfort.

I built a smart sauna heater using an ESP32 and multiple temperature sensors to maintain optimal heat levels automatically. It’s been working flawlessly for years without any issues.

I’ve set up a system that turns on my bathroom TV to monitor my kids via an indoor camera grid or continue watching the same show from the living room, depending on whether the kids are awake or asleep.

I rigged a servo to flush my toilet automatically. It’s controlled by Google and makes life a bit easier, especially for my kids.

Not the most unique, but a motion sensor in my mailbox tells me exactly when the mail arrives, which is incredibly convenient.

That was my first Zigbee project. Low risk but very rewarding!

As someone older, I don’t have many smart home devices. I stick to basic Wi-Fi-connected appliances like TVs and refrigerators.

A cat litter sensor that alerts me when it’s time to clean up. It’s a simple but effective automation that saves me from daily checks.

We have smart blinds that we operate with Alexa. Our command phrases are ‘start the purge’ or ‘stop the purge,’ which adds a bit of drama to ordinary tasks!

I’ve installed a CO2 sensor in my bedroom that triggers a fan to bring in fresh air when levels get too high, ensuring a healthy sleeping environment.

How do you handle air conditioning with that setup? Bringing in outside air can introduce humidity and other elements.

@Leila
I use a window AC in the summer and a humidifier in the winter to manage the indoor climate effectively.

@Leila
It’s a temporary solution since I’m renting, but it works well for now.

I use excess solar power to cool my house by dropping the A/C temperature during peak sunlight hours. Living in Phoenix, this optimizes our use of solar energy and keeps our home comfortable.

I set up an IFTTT applet to open my living room window shades whenever it starts raining. It’s a small touch, but I love watching the rain from indoors.
