What unique or lesser-known smart home devices do you own … Share your finds

My favorite is a motorized TV mount that lowers the TV to a more comfortable viewing position when turned on, and a simple automation that activates white noise in our bedroom at bedtime.

I really enjoy my meross smart garage door opener. It’s set to automatically close if left open, and I can open it remotely if needed.

I’m integrating a status light above my office door to reflect my availability in Microsoft Teams, controlled via a Raspberry Pi. It changes from green to red based on my presence status.

I’ve set up an ESP32 with a pressure sensor on my central heating system to monitor for leaks and maintain pressure, which has been crucial during our ongoing renovations.

I have a Playmobil TOS Enterprise that lights up and has sound effects. It’s connected to a smart plug, so I can turn it on with a voice command, which is always fun.

I’m using an Aquanta Water Heater Controller. It seems I’m one of the few who has one, and I’d love to hear from others who might be using it too.

I’ve set up a trip wire system that alerts me when someone approaches the door. It’s super simple but very effective.

I’m using a z-wave device to adjust the air duct damper in my home to better direct airflow to the second floor, based on the thermostat’s ecobee mode.

I’ve linked my hot tub and sauna temperatures to my home-assistant for notifications. Also, I use the school’s iCal system to automate morning routines for my kids, ensuring they wake up and get ready for school on time.

I have a Google Home integrated aromatherapy diffuser that adjusts scents based on the time of day or my mood. It’s a subtle but nice touch to our home environment.

My smart kettle boils water by the time I reach the kitchen, allowing me to pour hot water directly over my coffee filter. It’s a small luxury that makes mornings a bit easier.

I built a smart mousetrap that not only notifies me when it catches a mouse, but also uses sensors to ensure humane handling. It’s been a surprisingly helpful gadget.

That’s quite an inventive setup. You might have a future in product development!

I have a similar but electric mouse trap. Sadly, it hasn’t caught anything yet, even though we do have mice.

I use a Goodnature A24 Bluetooth-enabled rat trap that notifies me when it has dealt with a pest. It’s highly effective and provides peace of mind.

My Whisker Litter Robot is an internet-connected cat litter tray that keeps itself clean. It’s been a game-changer in our home.

I’ve automated almost everything in my home, from the vacuum to the lawn mower. Next on my wishlist is a Samsung fridge with an internal camera.

My Weatherflow Tempest weather station not only provides current weather data but also controls my lawn sprinklers based on the forecast. It’s an integral part of my smart home system.

I’m looking for a non-lethal way to keep squirrels away from bird feeders. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Try Eliminator brand feeders or spicy seed mixes. They’re effective at deterring squirrels without harming them.

Does anyone here have experience with smart interior doors? I’m considering installing some in my home.
