What safes have batteries you can change from the outside?

I’ve noticed most safes on places like Amazon have the battery compartment on the inside. I’m looking for one where I can replace the batteries from the outside. I don’t want to rely on a key unless it’s a real emergency. Any suggestions? Strength isn’t a big deal to me since most burglars could crack or take a home safe anyway. This is mostly to keep my stuff safe from a maid or someone like that.

Let me know if you have any recommendations under $200. Thanks in advance!

I’ve got a basic fire safe for documents, and its batteries are replaceable from the outside. It’s an older one I got from Costco, probably 30 years ago. I’ve long since lost the key, but I thought most safes had outside battery compartments.

@Sean
Maybe that’s true now, but it wasn’t the case a few years ago. I had one of those AmazonBasics safes, and it was awful. The battery compartment was inside, so when I lost the key and the keypad died, I had to break into it. It was shockingly easy, and I have zero skills in that area.

Wow, that’s frustrating.

I’ve seen safes that have metal contacts under the keypad for a 9V battery in case the internal ones die. Maybe that’s worth looking into?

You could drill a hole at the bottom of the safe and extend wires from the battery compartment.

But where would the wires go? The safes I’ve had used 2 AA batteries. How would you extend something like that?

@Cedric
You could run the wires out to an external AA battery holder. It’s pretty cheap and would only take about 15 minutes to set up.

I’ve got this safe. It has an external battery box you can plug into the keypad if the internal batteries die. It’s a decent option.

@Melvin
That looks a bit more high-end than what I need, but I appreciate the suggestion!
