Upgrade Radionics D6112 to Honeywell Vista20p

I’m upgrading my Radionics D6112 system, which includes two additional panel boxes and what I believe are zone extenders, plus a fair amount of wiring. I’m considering switching to a Honeywell Vista20p but need some guidance:

  1. Wiring Setup: How should I wire my existing setup into the Vista20p?
  2. Zone Extenders: Can I use the existing Radionics zone extenders with the Vista20p, or will I need Honeywell-specific ones?
  3. Alternative Systems: Would you recommend any other system over the Vista20p for this upgrade?

I’ve attached images of my current setup here: Imgur link.

Additional Info:

  • The system currently only shows 8 zones on the keypad, and all wires appear to be daisy-chained. Does this mean I don’t need zone extenders for the Vista20p?
  • There are two boards in the system: a green board that might be a power distributor or controller and a blue board that seems connected to the siren. Would either be reusable with the Vista20p?

Thanks for your advice!

The Vista 20P can handle most standard wired zone types (Normally Closed, End of Line Resistor) and can add wireless zones if you include an RF module or use a keypad like the 6160RF. Here’s how you can approach this:

  • Wiring: Check if all the wired zones terminate at a central point. This will make rewiring to the Vista20p easier.
  • Zone Extenders: If your current system uses zone expanders, they likely won’t work with the Vista20p. You’ll need Honeywell 4219 expanders if you need more than 8 zones. If all zones are shared, you might not need expanders.
  • Boards: The green board seems to be power-related, while the blue one looks like a siren driver. The Vista20p can handle sirens directly, so you may not need the blue board unless it offers additional features.

Recommendations for Vista20P:

  1. Vista20P panel.
  2. 6160 keypad (or 6160RF if you want wireless sensors).
  3. WAVE2 siren if you need an additional loud alarm.
  4. Honeywell 4219 zone expanders if more than 8 zones are required.

Thanks for the detailed breakdown! Here’s a picture of the green board: https://imgur.com/a/m4Ohrcg. It looks like it might be power-related. Does that mean I should only keep it if I need additional power distribution? Also, does the Vista20p require anything special for wiring a siren, or will it handle it directly?

@Clay
The green board does look like a power distributor or something similar. You can keep it if you have devices requiring separate power connections, but the Vista20P itself has a power output for most devices. As for the siren, the Vista20P can power a standard siren directly through its onboard terminals without additional boards unless you’re powering multiple high-current sirens. Let me know if you need a wiring diagram!
