My wall and electrical system were linked with an ADT control panel when I purchased my home a year ago. We still use the alarm itself in case someone tries to enter the house while we are asleep even though we no longer employ ADT. (We are working on installing SimpliSafe, but we are not quite done.) We want to alter the alarm code because our former flatmate is no longer welcome, but it does not appear to function when we follow the instructions we saw online. We are using the Safewatch Pro 3000 version of the control panel. I would be grateful for any guidance.
Since you’re not an ADT subscriber anymore, changing the code on your Safewatch Pro 3000 might be tricky. Usually, you need the master code to make changes, but without an ADT account, it’s hard to reset it.
While ADT is overpriced, I believe the Ademco/Honeywell system you have is vastly superior to Simplisafe. It can be paired with a more affordable central station and upgraded to work with a smartphone app.
However, following the online instructions doesn’t seem to work. If you have the master code (which might be different from the one you’re currently using) or the installer code, you can change the master code and add new codes.
If the code you are using isn’t the master code, that would explain why the instructions you’ve been following don’t work. In that case, you’ll need to recover the installer code and use that.
