Trouble connecting to an IP camera from AliExpress, any ideas?

I bought a generic IP camera from AliExpress, listed as an X5 camera.

I can’t get the recommended app (YsxLite) to connect to it. The app also seemed sketchy, so I uninstalled it.

Here’s what I know so far:

  • The SSID starts with TBAT, and according to the manual, that’s the unique identifier.
  • I found the camera’s IP address.
  • It has port 7070 open.
  • A web browser won’t connect to it, and telnet/SSH also don’t work.
  • Tried using VLC to pull a video stream but had no success.

I’m considering using Wireshark, but I’m not sure if that would help or how to use it in this case.

Would an SD card be required for this camera to work? I haven’t inserted one yet.

Any tips on how to take control of the camera or software that might work?

It probably supports ONVIF. Try using ONVIF Device Manager to connect. You should be able to find the RTSP address that way.

So far, none of the software or methods I’ve tried have even managed to start the camera.
