I’m a senior, semi-computer literate, living in a low-middle income neighborhood. My German shepherd passed away unexpectedly, and since I’m too disabled to raise another big dog, I’m considering getting home security. I can’t do my own wiring, so hiring a company seems like the best option. I’ve heard some negative things about ADT, so I’m wondering if anyone here has experience with Xfinity home security?
Just because some people complain online doesn’t mean it’s a scam. A lot of folks don’t understand how things work and end up blaming the company. ADT has been around a long time. I don’t have personal experience with them, but as for Xfinity, their door sensors, keypads, and motion detectors are wireless with batteries. I’ve only had to replace the batteries in my motion sensor and keypad after 5 years. The door sensors are still going strong after 6-7 years. Cameras need to be plugged in but send video wirelessly.
@Slurry
So, you have Xfinity? Does it work well for you?
My issue is that customer service calls the cameras wireless, but they’re not. Any outdoor camera will need to be plugged in through a hole the technician drills inside your house.
Just know this locks you into Xfinity as your ISP. If that’s fine, great! If not, consider something like Ring, which works even if you change your internet provider.

They’re already my ISP and pretty much the only option where I live, so that’s not an issue.
It’s a good option if you’re already an Xfinity customer. Just keep in mind that they have early termination fees if you cancel.

I don’t plan on moving or, you know, dying anytime soon, so I think I’m good on that front.
