I’m trying to decide between Surety and Alarm Grid for home security monitoring. I’d like to hear from people who’ve used either service. Specifically, I’m interested in:
Which one you use and why
Your location (I’m in Atlanta, GA, so coverage here matters)
Any real-life examples of when monitoring was needed and how the service performed
Looking for insights on which option might work best for my situation. Thanks in advance!
Neither Surety nor Alarm Grid is a direct monitoring center. They’re online alarm companies catering to DIY users and work with services like Alarm.com. Both essentially offer similar services. Alarm Grid has more instructional videos, while Surety is more responsive in forums. It’s really a matter of preference.
I prefer Surety because they’re very DIY-friendly. They have an active support forum and even participate in beta programs with Alarm.com. If you’re into home automation or like to tinker, Surety might be a better fit for you.
I use Surety and subscribe to their monitoring and home automation plan, which costs me about $22 a month.
I often set off my smoke alarm (burnt food, oops), and the monitoring company usually calls me within 30-45 seconds of the alarm activation. Once, I missed the call, and the fire department was at my door in under five minutes. Solid service in my experience.
I can’t comment on Surety or Alarm Grid, but I’d recommend looking into EyezOn if you already have a Honeywell or DSC system. I installed their alarm communicator, and it only took about 10 minutes to set up. I pay $12.50 a month for Ethernet + LTE UL/ULC monitoring, and it integrates well with my smart home system.
