Hello guys, I have a floodlight at the back of my house, controlled by a light switch in my bedroom. Practically speaking, we almost always go out to the yard through the kitchen, which is on the other side of the house.
It would be nice to be able to turn the light on from the kitchen instead of the bedroom. Right now, I have a smart switch in the bedroom so I can control it from my phone as a temporary solution.
But this got me thinking:
Is there a way to install one switch in the original location and another in the kitchen, where the kitchen switch wirelessly controls the bedroom switch?
It would function like a 3-way switch but without the wiring.
I found the RunLessWire 3-Way, but it’s over $200, which seems steep.
Is there a more affordable alternative to achieve this?
For instance, can I use a Kasa 3-way kit since I have power wiring in both locations, just not on the same line for a 3-way setup?
I know there’s the home automation route via HomeAssistant, but I’d prefer something more straightforward.
Looking forward to your suggestions.
