Single mom needs help picking a home security system… suggestions?

A family member reached out to me today, and I’m really out of my depth here. She’s a single mom dealing with a tough situation—her ex, who’s started using again, has been showing up high and causing trouble. He originally set up their Ring system when they were married, and still has access to it. She needs to replace her security system to keep her and her child safe.

Here’s what she needs:

  1. It has to be professionally installed.

  2. No batteries for the window sensors, as she can’t keep up with that on top of everything else.

There are some tech-savvy family members around who could handle a DIY setup if there’s a good option that doesn’t use batteries for the sensors.

Any recommendations?

Yeah, she does.

Why not just move? If her ex knows where she lives and can come by anytime, moving to a new place could give her a fresh start without having to deal with him anymore.

And then what? Ignore their parenting agreement and not tell her ex where she lives? How does moving fix the issue? Selling her home and buying another one is way more expensive, time-consuming, and difficult than just replacing the security system.
