Should I Worry? Old Security System Detecting Heat

Our security system hasn’t been working for years, and the battery has been dead for about three years. Today, as I walked by it, the system suddenly started beeping and showed these messages:

“Supervision 9 2ND FL Heat”, “Supervision 8 2ND FL SMK DET”, “Low Batt 8 2ND FL SMK DET”, and “Low Batt 9 2ND FL Heat” (see the imgur link).

These are new messages from today. All the other ones have been there for a long time. Is this something to worry about? I told my dad, and he just turned off the alarm.

A supervision alarm means the sensor isn’t talking to the system anymore. The batteries in the sensor are probably dead.

@ingosi Yep, that’s right. Try resetting the system, and you should also change the batteries while you’re at it.

It’s just the batteries in the smoke and heat detectors. If you’re not paying for the system and don’t care about using it for safety, you can ignore them.

The smoke and heat detector on the second floor has dead batteries.

Please tell me you have other working smoke detectors!
