I have a Fermax 3431 Universal intercom. Initially, I thought the Ring couldn’t open the door, but I noticed it works when the handset is off the hook, as if I were opening the door without the Ring intercom. This also happens when I disconnect the handset from the intercom; pressing the open button doesn’t work. Does anyone know what’s going on? The audio functions perfectly, both sending and receiving, so I’m unsure how to fix this. Thanks in advance!
It sounds like the door release mechanism is dependent on the handset being engaged. This could be due to the wiring setup or a feature of the Fermax 3431 model.
I had a similar issue with my intercom system. It turned out that the door release function was wired to work only when the handset was lifted. You might need to check the wiring or consult the manual.
The Fermax 3431 is designed to replace standard phones from other brands and older Fermax models. It’s possible that the wiring configuration requires the handset to be off the hook for the door release to function.
I recommend reaching out to Fermax technical support. They can provide detailed guidance on your specific model and help troubleshoot the issue.
It might be worth checking if there’s a setting or jumper inside the intercom that controls this behavior. Some models have configurable options for the door release function.
