I just moved into a house that has an Ethernet cable running outside. I’m thinking of using PoE for an outdoor camera. I noticed the stick-up pro supports PoE. What’s everyone’s experience with these cameras?
From what I know, you’d need the Elite version. Honestly, you might be better off going for a proper camera and DVR setup, then adding Ring as a backup if needed.
I’d suggest getting a proper security camera that can record 24/7, like Hikvision. Ring has mentioned they might move towards 24/7 recording in the future, but until they do, I wouldn’t recommend them.

Got it. Have you tried something like Reolink without using a full NVR or DVR system?

I haven’t personally, but Reolink is known to be reliable. Just keep in mind that with cameras, the quality you get depends on what you pay for.
I went with a Reolink PoE system that includes an NVR. It doesn’t require a subscription, records 24/7, and gives 4k video. I’ve got 31 days of storage for seven cameras with no blind spots around the house. I built my system from individual components, but they also offer complete kits. It’s been working smoothly for a year now. There are other great brands to consider too.
