Outdoor Camera Confusion: PTZ vs. Regular for My Yard?

Hey everyone, I’m thinking about getting a security camera for outside, and I saw these PTZ cameras that can move around. Seems cool, but are they necessary, or would a regular camera be just fine? Basically, I’m looking for something to keep an eye on my yard and catch anything suspicious. Here’s what I’m not sure about:

  • PTZ vs. Regular: Do I need all the fancy panning and zooming, or is a regular camera enough to cover my yard?
  • Night Vision: Nighttime is important too, so should the camera have night vision for sure?
  • Easy to Install: I’m not super handy, so can I set up this camera myself, or will I need help?

Any recommendations on what kind of camera to get for outside my house? Thanks!

Even if I were to use twice as many E1 PTZ cameras indoors, I would still choose fixed cameras if I had to do it again.

I’m finding that they regularly lose focus and will occasionally need to be manually recalibrated. However, there could actually be an E1 problem.
