Non-electronic security options for home or apartment?

I’m learning about modern home security systems, but I want to make sure I have protection even during power outages or emergencies. Are there good security options that don’t rely on electronics at all? Looking for ideas for both apartments and houses.

Most security panels have backup batteries that last for hours or even days. You can also upgrade to a larger battery if you expect extended outages.

Consider getting a UPS and a generator.

A UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) keeps things like your router, cameras, or security system running during short power outages. Depending on size, it can last a few hours. For longer outages, you’d need a generator to keep things going.

A locksmith can reinforce your doors and windows. Strong locks, deadbolts, and door braces go a long way.

Most alarms have backup batteries, but if you’re worried about power outages, consider a cellular or long-range radio backup for alerts. That way, even if the internet goes down, your system can still send alerts. If you’re thinking about long-term security in extreme situations, police response may not always be reliable, so self-defense options are something to think about too.

@Trenton
Thanks for the info. I was more interested in daily security options and backup communication methods like long-range radio. I don’t think firearms are necessary for my situation.
