Need recommendations for a basic home security setup

I’m ready to get rid of my Vivint system completely.

I have two front yard cameras but could manage with just one, along with a doorbell camera and maybe an indoor camera. I considered POE cameras but don’t think I need that—probably just one outdoor camera plus a doorbell camera would be enough.

I’d like an outdoor camera with good zoom, night vision, local storage (256GB/512GB SD card), and an app that lets me scroll through footage easily. Person and vehicle detection are a must, as well as 2.4/5GHz WiFi.

I’m also wondering if I really need a subscription if I’m using SD card storage.

So far, I’ve checked out Reolink, Wyze, Nest, and Ring. Reolink and Wyze are my top choices at the moment, but I’d love to hear any opinions or experiences. Thanks!

You might want to consider Alarm.com—it meets your needs but does require a subscription. Unfortunately, there’s no non-subscription option for their video service.
