We recently bought a home that has a Moose Z1100R alarm system, but it’s not functioning properly. I’m trying to get it up and running but haven’t been able to figure it out.
Has anyone had experience with this system or know how to troubleshoot it? Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
The Electronically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory contains all of the non-firmware programming parameters. It is non-volatile memory, so turning it off does not affect your settings or system status; nevertheless, as the device ages, the memory sectors that contain specific instructions may become unreachable. Silicon becomes senile.
Does it charge?
Replace the transformer and battery if necessary.
Ideal starting point or upgrade to a more modern system
Although those techniques were effective in their day, they are getting close to 40 years old. Since the Moose Z1100 dates back to the mid-1980s, most of us will advise replacing it. Having said that, what problems are you having with it if you want to try to get it to work anyhow?
