Looking for wireless motion sensor and siren recommendations… any suggestions?

Hi all!

I’m renting a place where the existing alarm system isn’t working, and the owner isn’t going to fix it. I’m looking for a wireless security solution that I can install myself without needing to wire the whole place.

I’m trying to find motion sensors that work with sirens, but I’m having trouble finding clear info on what works with what. For example, can a siren be set up with Hue motion sensors? Or if I go with Eufy/Tapo motion sensors, which siren can be triggered by their motion detection? If anyone has a similar setup, could you share what motion sensors and sirens you’ve used?

I’m based in Australia, so brands available here would be ideal.

P.S.: I already have Nest outdoor cameras, but I want a siren and motion sensors to alert me if there’s an intrusion.

As much as some people don’t like it, Ring might be a good option! It’s truly wireless.

I’d suggest asking the owner if you can mess with the existing security system. They’re usually not too hard to fix, and many support wireless sensors. If you can figure out the make and model, post it here and I can help point you in the right direction.

Alternatively, you could try spinning up an instance of Home Assistant, get a Z-Wave 800 series Long Range USB stick, and some Zooz long-range motion sensors. You’d need to put it together yourself, but it’ll be relatively easy and affordable.
