As the title says, I’m looking for a camera that can record 24/7 to an SD card, even when it’s not connected to WiFi. Does anyone know of any models that do this?
Wyze v2 cameras can be set up using WiFi initially, then they can record offline without needing WiFi after that.

I tried that, but it didn’t work. After I set it up, I disconnected it from WiFi, and it stopped recording. I later read that they removed this option, so it might not work anymore.

You can try using the Defang hacks firmware. It gives you RTSP and stops the camera from talking to the company’s servers.

Can you share the link to that?

Here you go: link. Keep in mind there’s no official support for this feature.

Although the camera says it only supports smaller cards, I’ve been using 256GB cards for loop recording with no issues. It’s great for long-term offline recording.

The original poster is looking for a completely offline setup, so cloud features like 12-second clips don’t matter here.

I know, that’s why I mentioned the loop recording first. I only brought up the cloud features for anyone else who might be interested. It’s a neat option.

Wyze cameras.
Check out Lorex or Swann cameras. They have DVRs and let you transfer clips to a USB drive. They can connect to the internet, but they don’t need it. Costco and Amazon sell kits ranging from $400 to $4000.

This is the way to go. You’ll want a DVR or NVR system, which is designed to be used offline. These systems don’t rely on smartphones and internet like many modern smart cameras do. If you try to make smart home cameras work offline, you might run into weird bugs or limitations that could cause more frustration than it’s worth. Stick with CCTV-type systems for reliable offline use. You can also save money by buying no-name cameras and a separate NVR. These setups don’t have flashy smartphone features, but if you’re focused on offline functionality, it’s a much better fit.
I’m currently using Reolink RLC-410-5MP PoE cameras. They’re connected to a Synology DS220j for 24/7 recording, and I couldn’t be happier. They don’t require the internet at all. They also support SD cards for offline recording, have great night vision, and detect motion. If you want reliable, offline, crystal-clear footage, these might be a good option for you.

Are you using these with an NVR or just a PoE switch?

I’m using an 8-port PoE switch connected to the NVR. You could also use a regular switch with PoE injectors if you prefer. Here’s the switch I bought: link.

I just bought a Reolink PoE 1440p 4-camera kit with a 2TB NVR. Wiring it will be a challenge, but it should be a good fit for what I need.

Great choice! Here’s a wiring diagram link in case you need it: link. I had to use it for a clean install on one of my cameras.

Do you use SD cards in your cameras? Can they record to both the SD card and the NVR at the same time?
The Netatmo cameras have SD card slots and don’t need WiFi for recording. You’ll need WiFi for setup and monitoring, but they can record offline as long as they’re configured to do so.
