Our organization has a communal kitchen that stays open during the day, but we need it to lock automatically at night. We’d like a solution where it stays unlocked for convenience during specific hours, without needing people to enter a code every time, and then locks itself at a set time in the evening. It would save us from having someone go up and lock it every night.
Has anyone come across a lock with this kind of feature? I tried searching online but didn’t find exactly what we need.
What you’re looking for is an ‘access schedule’ feature. Some commercial locks support it. Here’s a link that lists options from one vendor, but there are cheaper options out there too.
You might want to look into maglocks or latches that connect to an access control panel supporting timed functions. Try searching for ‘commercial access control.’
Any smart lock connected to Google Home (or similar) will let you set up a schedule or timer. I use this feature myself to auto-lock my doors after a few minutes since I often forget to lock up.
