Hi, I’m trying to find a door camera that’s easy to install, has long battery life, and can record 24/7 while storing the footage for an extended period. I’ve seen a lot of options on Amazon, but the mixed reviews make it hard to decide. If anyone has recommendations based on experience, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!
If you want 24/7 recording, a battery-powered camera isn’t ideal. Constant recording will drain the battery quickly and strain your Wi-Fi. I recommend going for a wired camera with a PoE setup and an NVR. Reolink makes a great PoE door camera.
I use the Nest doorbell, which has both wired and wireless options. I live in a cold area, and the battery life was terrible in the winter. I ended up wiring it, and it’s been great since then. Wired is definitely the better option if you want reliability.
If you already have a traditional doorbell, you can use the existing power wires to install a wired camera. That way, you won’t have to worry about batteries at all.
Your requirements are tough to combine in one device. Long battery life, 24/7 recording, and large storage don’t coexist well. If you really need 24/7 recording, you’ll need a wired or PoE-powered camera. Otherwise, you’ll be changing batteries frequently.
