Looking for a Camera to Replace My Peephole… Any Ideas?

I’m thinking about replacing the old peephole on my front door with a camera. I’d prefer something with a very low profile or no screen inside at all. I’m not a fan of big, bulky digital setups that show on the back of the door.

You could try a Ring peephole camera, and maybe get an extra battery for rotation. It lets you watch and listen from your phone, without having to be right behind the door. Plus, you can still talk to people at the door, even when you’re not home. Alternatively, you can mount a camera high up, or go for a Ring doorbell camera.

Thanks for the suggestion! I did look at Ring, but I’m mainly looking to replace the peephole directly. I don’t mind being behind the door and don’t understand why some people feel unsafe about it.

@Douglas
I mentioned it because most doors won’t stop bullets if someone suspects you’re behind the door. Also, because many doors swing in, they’re often not that hard to kick in. In a worst-case scenario, the door might knock you down and you might not have space to move or escape from an intruder.

@Earl
Just get a bulletproof door and you’re good. /s This sounds like a John Wick movie.

I live in a pretty safe country (not the USA).

If you just want to look outside, check out the DS Door Scope. It’s all mechanical, but gives a much clearer view than a regular peephole. The only downside is it flips the image.
