Hey, so I noticed this thing poking out from my light fitting and it just doesn’t look right. I’m in the UK, and I can’t tell if it’s something I should be worried about or not. Has anyone seen anything like this before…?
It looks like a wire cap that needs tucked back in under the light.
No. As others said, that’s used to join two wires together. It’s lazy workmanship to leave it sticking out like that, but it’s definitely not any kind of surveillance gear.
That’s a wire nut/cap mate, lol
must be a C4 charge cap

Yup definitely a satchel charge up there and they forgot to crimp the primer
I will take, what is a wire nut for 200 please alex.
Just turn in your man card.
It’s a wire cap. You stick two wires in & crimp it to make a connection.

I’m more upset that OP didn’t recognize a wire cap/wire nut than anything else.
Clearly a camera!

Disguised as a wire cap. Even the good people here are fooled by its nefarious owner.
Suspicious that the person who installed the light didn’t tuck the wires up. What else of more consequence did they just say ‘f it’ to?
It’s a microphone installed by the tv license man! Sell your organs on eBay immediately!
It’s a Wire Nut the electrician didn’t make sure everything was tucked into the fixture before it was screwed up to the ceiling. Then they just left it that bad; ‘good enough to get paid!’
#Shitty workmanship!
Enhance!
Now you have to check all your house for the other bugs
