What do others think about this price? This is from a local company that has better customer service than other big companies like ADT.
Try Suretyhome. You can buy a panel from them and get sensors from eBay. I pay $24 for monitoring and automation with the Alarm.com app.
Mine is $69, so that’s cheap compared to what I pay.
If you’re not familiar with sensors and security panels, then $49 or less is reasonable. Surety is cheaper, around $20 to $25, but you need to buy and install your own equipment. If you can handle the setup, go with that option.
@Hector
You can get the Qolsys IQ4 panel on Amazon and sign up with an online monitoring service for cellular carrier fees, dispatch, and remote control via Alarm.com. I use SafeHomeCentral.com and pay $18 a month. Surety is cheaper but only offers email support on weekdays. I needed help on a Sunday and SafeHomeCentral answered right away. For me, support is just as important as price.

They’re just comparing the pros and cons of different options.
It really depends on the service level. I charge $45 for Alarm.com, but I personally monitor every account monthly and aim to fix any issues within 48 hours. Larger companies might cost less, but they don’t provide the same level of attention.
Yes, that price sounds about right for monitoring, connectivity, and support.
No, that’s too high.
It’s reasonable. I charge $30 for IP-only service and $40 if they want cell backup. Adding the Alarm.com portal brings it to $45. It’s costly to provide this kind of service.

If you’re barely making money at those rates, it doesn’t seem sustainable.
@Fred
I wasn’t complaining. Just pointing out that OP’s price is fair, and Alarm.com is expensive no matter how you look at it.
That’s too high. We pay $29 for Alarm.com with internet and cellular dual-path service through a local company.
Check out Geoarm. It’s around $25 per month.

Geoarm can be as low as $20 if you skip the add-ons.
That’s fair. I pay $60 a month.
Do you need this for insurance purposes? I’ve seen more people asking about this lately.
If you use WiFi, you can find cheaper options like Ring. Simplisafe over cellular is around $20.
