I don’t need a camera that records all the time. It will be placed outside but won’t be exposed to weather, and it will be connected to my PC. I plan to manage the footage myself—saving or deleting it as needed. I’m not interested in any online or cloud storage or paying extra fees.
What are my options? I’m hoping to find something under $100, and if it’s under $50, that’s even better.
Connected directly to your PC, like a webcam? That might not be the best approach.
You’ll likely need one of these options: 1) An NVR with IP cameras, 2) A server-based VMS with IP cameras, or 3) An IP camera with built-in storage (like an SD card).
I’m not planning to save videos regularly—only if I get an unwelcome guest.
I just need the camera to turn on when it detects motion and save the footage to a temporary folder. If it’s nothing important, I’ll just delete it.
