I’m away from home, and my WiFi went out, causing my cameras to go offline. Usually, they reconnect on their own, but I’ve noticed if they lose WiFi for too long, they won’t come back online automatically. How can I fix this remotely?
Unfortunately, if the cameras didn’t reconnect automatically, there’s not much you can do until you’re back home to manually reboot them or the router.
Do you have a smart plug connected to the router? If so, you can use its app to reboot your router remotely. That might help.
If this happens often, you might want to consider a router with a feature that automatically restarts when it detects a loss in connectivity.
Some cameras have a remote reset option through the app. Check your camera settings to see if that’s available.
I’d suggest setting up a backup internet connection or using a router with failover support. That way, the cameras can stay online even if the primary WiFi goes down.
