How far can you run low voltage outdoor lighting?

"Hey everyone, I plan to install some low-voltage lights in my garden, but I’m not sure how far I can run the wiring before the lights start to dim. Has anyone here tried stretching their lighting over a larger area? I would appreciate any advice on how far you have managed to go while keeping everything well-lit.

Usually, you want to keep the run under 100 feet if you don’t want dim lights. I stretched mine a bit further, and the lights started losing a bit of their sparkle. Try to use thicker wires for longer runs if you can.

Go as far as you wish. You must study voltage drop tables for the distance and choose the right wire size to accommodate losses.

To avoid dimming, limit 12-gauge wire length to 100 feet for every 100 watts of lights used. Always verify power at the fixture with a voltmeter.
