How can I make this LG controller smart?

I have these LG controllers installed throughout my house. I tried hiring someone to set up a smart system like Ecobee, Google Nest, or other cheaper options, but they said it wouldn’t work without a converter. LG uses only 3 wires while the others need 4 or 5. This is just what the electrician explained, as I’m no expert.

Does LG offer any smart alternatives that would be compatible? Any suggestions on how to solve this?

AirZone makes a device that works with LG systems. Check this link:

This seems like a great option! I couldn’t find where to buy it, so I sent them an email.

Thanks for sharing.

@Cyrus
I got mine from Amazon Spain.

How much did it cost? I’m seeing prices around $270, and I have 7-9 units to automate. That seems way overpriced—probably from resellers.

@Cyrus
Right now, it’s €151.25 here: https://amzn.eu/d/6ecW0RU.

That price is much better! Hopefully, they’ll reply to my email. It doesn’t seem to be available anywhere in the UAE.

Thanks again for the help!

Ecobee usually comes with a converter for 3-wire systems.

@Eucabeth
I couldn’t find any models with ThinQ compatibility.

The Modbus option looks interesting, but it seems very advanced. I’m new to Home Assistant, but I’m willing to learn if it offers a good solution. Automating the ACs at home is a priority.

You might need a Tuya IR/RF blaster. It learns the signals from your remote and can control the AC using them. They’re easy to set up and affordable.

The AC isn’t a single unit—it’s a central system.

@Cyrus
As long as it has a remote control, that shouldn’t matter. These devices can mimic most remotes with Infrared or RF signals.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a remote. :frowning:

If it has a remote, try Broadlink.

Sadly, it doesn’t have one.
