Hey folks, I’m in the market for some solid WiFi cameras. I’ve been using Eufy cameras, but I’m not loving them—UI is bad, tons of ads, and the footage is encrypted so I can’t view it on my computer. So, I’m looking for alternatives. Needs: WiFi with wall power, consumer grade, motion detection, night vision. I’m good with recording to microSD as long as I can access the footage remotely without removing the card. I was reading about Reolink—any thoughts? I also want to keep the same ecosystem for future stuff like doorbell, locks, floodlights, etc. Reolink and Amcrest seem like contenders, but I’d love to hear your suggestions.
If you’re set on WiFi, why not go for Ring or Nest? They’re pretty reliable for home use, and their apps are decent. But honestly, WiFi cams will never match the performance of wired setups for things like quality and motion detection.

I can’t run Ethernet or powerline adapters, unfortunately. It’s WiFi or nothing for me, but yeah, I get that wired would be better.
Check out Amcrest, but also keep in mind that WiFi cameras usually struggle with bandwidth issues, especially during motion. If you’re not too worried about 24/7 surveillance and just want casual monitoring, it could work though.
@Auditor
That’s exactly my vibe—just need to keep an eye on things when I’m away. Thanks for the tip on Amcrest!
Reolink is okay, but it’s not perfect. Some people have issues with night motion blur and parts of the image missing. If you’re going for more fun/peace of mind than actual security, it could be fine though.
@john
Yeah, I’ve read about that. I’m not looking for perfect security—just want a decent camera to check in on the house.
Amcrest would probably be better if you plan on using a Home Assistant setup. They’re more ONVIF-compliant than Reolink and would play better with an NVR.

Good point, I’ll look into that since I might use Home Assistant down the road. Thanks!
If you’re not that worried about security, just go for a simple Ring or Arlo setup. Easy to use, decent app, and you can add more gadgets like doorbells or floodlights later.

Sounds good, I’ll keep those in mind. Appreciate the help!
