Cost of 360 Cameras for Parking Lots?

Hi all! I’m working with a college, and we’re looking into getting 360 cameras for our parking lots. Can anyone give a general idea of the cost for these cameras? I’ve checked a few sites but haven’t found solid information yet. Any help would be appreciated!

There are mainly two types of 360-degree cameras. One uses a fisheye lens, which is generally cheaper but has a shorter focal distance. The other type has multiple cameras in one housing, which tends to be more expensive. The fisheye type usually costs between $200 to $500, while the multi-camera setups can range from $1500 to $3000.

Keep in mind, though, that you might need to contact a security integrator to purchase and set these up, as they’re not always sold directly.

We’d need a bit more info to give a good recommendation. What’s the main reason for using a 360 camera? How large is the area you’re looking to cover, and what details are you hoping to capture?

This is like the size of a Walmart parking lot but not like Walmart supersize big. We are getting them because we don’t have cameras and there has been a rise in car break ins. We just want to be able to identify someone’s vehicle entering or exiting.

If I were setting this up, here’s what I’d do:

  1. Get good lighting in the parking lot, especially at night.

  2. Set up four cameras that each cover a 90-degree area, for a complete 360-degree view. I’d recommend Empiretech ipc-color-4k-t cameras, or Reolink cx810s if budget is tight.

  3. Add an ANPR or LPR camera for license plate recognition where vehicles enter and exit.

  4. Optionally, install another camera where there’s a lot of foot traffic.

This kind of setup would likely cost around $2000 to $2500.

@Rob
Totally agree – four 90-degree cameras will usually be better than a single 360 or two 180s.

Check out Axis 360 cameras, especially the P37 series. We use those, and they’re priced starting around $1200.

Or you could go with two panos placed back to back.

Axis Q series cameras are some of the best for commercial spaces like colleges. They’re priced between $2000 and $5000, depending on the model.

Just to note, the P37’s aren’t PTZs. PTZ cameras aren’t often the best choice since they aren’t actively monitored most of the time.

Do you mean a 360 camera, or are you considering a PTZ?

Prices range from $299 and up, depending on what exactly you need. It’s a pretty broad question.
