I’m in the market for the highest quality home security system, but I’m facing a dilemma. I want top-notch performance across all devices, but it seems no single company offers the best of everything.
Here’s what I need:
- 24/7 full recording (wired) cameras with at least 7 days of access (3 indoor, 3 outdoor)
- A doorbell camera with similar capabilities
- A smart lock with Touch ID
- Smart window/door sensors
- Ideally, HomeKit compatibility, though it’s not essential
The easy route would be to go with Vivint or Telus, but I’ve heard their cameras and features aren’t the best. I’m tempted to mix and match—Eufy for cameras, Aqara for window/door sensors and the lock—but that means managing two systems, which isn’t ideal. Nest is another option for keeping everything simple and integrated, but it might not offer the best in every category.
What would you do in my situation? Would you compromise on quality to stick with one company, or would you go with multiple companies to get the best of each component?
