Why not KNX?
It has KNX support
I mean why Loxone rather than KNX? There’s so much more stuff compatible with KNX

Because the Loxone app and interface is more seamless and I want my partner and kids to understand it too. Since it has KNX support I can attach any KNX device on it anyways
@Unclewaffl3s
For KNX support you need to buy the ‘KNX extension’! But it is as expensive as the miniserver (around 550€) and is limited to 512(?) Group addresses.

This is a gen1 miniserver that has KNX built in
@Unclewaffl3s
Didn’t see, nice! Nevertheless I would go with KNX hardware instead of relay and rgbw extensions from loxone. In order to be independent of the retailer
@Unclewaffl3s
What do you mean? KNX has no interface, several vendors provide their own ways to interface with it.

Loxone Miniserver is good for visualisation. Best practice is buying Loxone miniserver, loxone knx extension and maybe loxone intercom. And make everything else with KNX, especially all the logic!!! but you are limited with 512 (?) group addresses.
Is that a mixture of high and low voltage in one cabinet?

It is, yes

It’s literally not possible to have line voltage relays or contactors which are operated by low voltage control circuits not inhabit the same physical space.
@Carmen
True (unless you use Loxone Air Relays, depending on your definitions). But a cabinet like that should keep all 120V at least 2” from all LVDC, preferably with a barrier between. It’s not uncommon to run 120VAC components on a separate rail to keep things isolated.
With that huge rats nest, I’d highly recommend using wire id’s/labels because you’ll completely forget which is which in a short time. Both of my brothers are electricians and they like to use these. There are all sorts of different kinds though, if you dont fancy the numbered ones. Another suggestion I’d offer and I use one all the time, it’s a flipping life saver! A standard label maker is extremely useful for DIY projects. https://www.amazon.com/Nelko-P21-Bluetooth-Templates-Organizing/dp/B0C3L93F2Q/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=3AX8DWBJ1202R&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.eC0WA3KVoKXuIYbijWOc4chIXXPGRCIWKePSl-rvgS4otN54VvfHsmXNSO-I-A7rwExm1Y1Zy7Kt2jnbjJEo2a6N_PgmkjHZpXju_N1axF-l-TQHeU2Y2cwYCjKO8jzulqfHGL0_eivWMYm-9Det1gasTBV_vtd6TMdDkjU1zICIuk83bumd9RHfasI4OEaMrrHrxpiMMQgnWSOdVvibJw.oCuOCtWys12K4OODf8IMAwYo39ecsn1tLxBH2TWyP40&dib_tag=se&keywords=label+maker&qid=1733882987&sprefix=label%2Caps%2C243&sr=8-3
Nice. Would like to see the end result.
Can you give some info on the system used? I see a lot of stuff. How are costs etc?

It’s a Loxone system, paid around 5k for sensors and modules. Going to add intercom and speakers next year. Expected costs for the whole install 15k.
@Unclewaffl3s
Thanks! Just been looking up the loxone stuff, looks good but a bit out of my price range at the moment! I want to be fully wired as hate battery sensors but am rolling my own DIY stuff for now!
@howdyrobert
The other thing to bear in mind - everything is controlled by the Loxone central unit (can’t remember what it’s called). If that dies then you lose control to everything including light. My concern would be longer term if they were to go under how hard would it be to find another solution
@Sara
I use home assistant so will be sticking with that for my controls
How do you put the cover back on?

I’ve taken off all plates and organizers for the install… I guess I’ll make a follow up when I’m all done
