I have my smart alerts set up to record and send alerts for people, but they only record for other motion. I want to set some of my cameras to stop sending people alerts when my alarm is in disabled mode, but I can’t figure out how to do this. I know motion schedules can do something similar, but they work on time and not mode. Is there a way to do this? If so, how can I set it up?
Unfortunately, the Ring app doesn’t let you disable specific alerts based on mode right now. You can only control whether motion detection and recording are active in each mode.
I’ve had the same issue. What I ended up doing was using the motion schedule to block alerts during certain times, even though it’s not ideal for modes.
One workaround is to manually turn off motion alerts for those cameras when the alarm is disabled. Not perfect, but it works if you don’t change modes too often.
I’d recommend looking into third-party automation tools. Some can integrate with Ring and might allow you to customize notifications based on mode.
This is something a lot of users have been asking for. Hopefully, Ring adds more features to the Modes settings soon to allow better alert control.
