I’m looking to extend my WiFi to reach a dock that’s about 300 yards away. I live in a rural area where theft is becoming an issue, and I want to set up a camera on the dock for security. Running a cable isn’t an option for me. Does anyone have suggestions on the best WiFi extender to use in this situation?
Have you considered using a UniFi NanoBeam or a building-to-building bridge? These devices can beam the Internet all the way to your dock, allowing you to set up a small switch for your cameras. You could even extend WiFi coverage to the dock area if needed. This setup might be ideal for your rural location where running cables isn’t feasible.
Another option to consider is the Linksys WRT3200ACM, which has a range that can cover about 1.5 to 2 acres. If you need more targeted coverage, there are also line-of-sight dishes available that can direct WiFi exactly where you need it, depending on your budget. However, I’d advise against using extenders—they tend to be unreliable.
