Best PoE outdoor camera system for extreme cold weather?

I’m planning to install a PoE camera system with 3-4 outdoor cameras, possibly one indoor camera, and a doorbell camera. The house already has Cat6 Ethernet cables pre-installed. I’d like to integrate this with a smart home assistant (currently using Google products) and ensure the system is user-friendly.

I’ve been researching Reolink, Eufy (though it seems not PoE), and TP-Link systems. I’d like advice on whether these brands meet my needs or if there are better options. What can systems like Ring or Nest do that Reolink or others can’t?

Requirements:

  1. Outdoor durability: Must handle Canadian winters (-40°C to -30°C). PoE seems better than battery-operated cameras for this. Outdoor cameras need to have at least one floodlight option. Fixed-range cameras are fine.
  2. Nighttime visibility: High-quality imaging and visibility at night.
  3. Remote viewing: Ability to access real-time footage from a phone app with notifications and customizable settings.
  4. Storage: Options for cloud storage, DVR, or NVR. Need guidance here.
  5. Smart home integration: Seamless compatibility with existing Google products and a unified system without multiple incompatible apps.

I’m looking for a system that’s easy to access, view real-time footage, and manage without complicated setups. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated!

We use Dahua, installed by a local provider. The system is excellent, and the cameras handle extreme weather well.

Reolink and TP-Link are good choices for what you’re describing. Both offer reliable PoE options.

Reolink is okay for DIY systems, but there are higher-quality options available. Why stick with DIY brands? Consider looking into systems provided by professional installers—they often have user-friendly apps and better quality.

@Jeremy
I’m not tied to DIY brands. I’ve only started researching in the past few weeks, and Reolink came up as affordable and decent for PoE. I’m pretty tech-savvy, but my wife isn’t, so I need a system that’s simple for her to use as well.

@Alec
Many higher-end systems are available through dealers and often come with simple-to-use apps. They might be worth considering for a better user experience.
