I just got a Eufy SoloCam S220 through my security company, Cove, using some credit I’ve built up. I only have one camera right now, so I want to make sure I place it in the best spot for security.
My yard is 120’ x 120’, and my house is positioned off to the left. Right now, I’m considering mounting it on the front side of the garage to cover the largest part of my yard.
Would that be the best placement, or is there a better way to position it for more coverage? The distances:
You should mount the camera between 7 to 10 feet high and angle it down no more than 30 degrees. This will ensure it captures movement effectively while avoiding false alarms from small animals or passing cars.
Since the SoloCam S220 has a built-in solar panel, make sure it’s placed where it gets at least 2 hours of direct sunlight per day. Otherwise, the battery could drain quickly.
Placing the camera on the front side of the garage is a good choice if you want wide coverage, but you might still have blind spots. Consider testing different angles before drilling it in permanently.
If you’re worried about blind spots, a secondary camera covering entry points would be a great addition later. Motion-activated floodlights can also help deter intruders in areas the camera doesn’t fully cover.
