Best outdoor security cameras to share with cleaners and stream online?

I have a mountain cabin that I rent out on AirBNB, and I’m looking for a couple of outdoor security cameras. I’d like to be able to share the live feed (but not admin access) with my cleaners so they can help keep an eye on things.

Bonus points if I can also stream one of the camera views on my website, so guests can check the weather before they arrive.

I prefer plug-in cameras—not battery or PoE. Any recommendations?

Why not PoE?

Multiple buildings on the property, so running PoE would be a hassle. I just don’t want to deal with running cables everywhere. I’m looking for something easy to set up.

Got it. If you’re sticking with Wi-Fi cameras, Eufy and Reolink are solid choices. Just keep in mind that Wi-Fi cameras can be unreliable, especially if your network isn’t strong across the whole property.

You can do it the easy way, or you can do it the right way.

Ring cameras would be an easy and affordable option. Their subscription is about $10 a month. If you want battery-powered instead, Arlo is another good choice.

I always get downvoted for recommending Ubiquiti, but I still think their system is worth considering.

Pros:

  • Your data stays private, and you control where your feeds go.
  • You can set up different user accounts with specific permissions.
  • If you’re already using Ubiquiti for networking, it integrates well.
  • They offer cameras with AI features like license plate recognition and facial recognition.

The main downside is that Ubiquiti cameras aren’t as cheap as some competitors, but you get more control over your system.

One reason people push back on Ubiquiti is that it’s not as private as you think. Unless you completely disconnect their cameras from the internet, Ubiquiti has full access to your cameras and recordings.

Also, their camera quality—especially at night—isn’t great compared to other brands at the same price point. That $300+ doorbell camera they sell is outperformed by $100 models from other brands.

Good to know! Don’t Ubiquiti cameras require you to already have a Ubiquiti network setup?
