I’m pretty new to home security and looking for some advice on setting up a comprehensive system. I don’t mind spending $2k-$3k on good equipment, and I can handle the installation myself. Here’s what I’m looking for:
Alerts: I need an alarm system that not only texts me but also rings or sounds an alarm to wake me up if there’s a security breach. I have trouble waking up to text notifications.
Door and Window Alarms: I want alarms for the interior garage door, back sliding patio door, front door, all windows around the house, and the backyard/patio area.
Camera System: A camera system with a DVR, ideally with 6+ cameras. I’d like it to be on a battery backup.
Keypad and Hardwiring: An interior alarm system that can wake me up, with a keypad for disarming. I prefer everything to be hardwired rather than relying on Wi-Fi.
I’ve had my car stolen from the driveway before, but my main concern is ensuring my family’s safety and being alerted to any potential threats before they enter our rooms. Although we’ve never had an actual break-in, I want to be as secure as possible.
What are the best systems or equipment you’d recommend? Thanks…
Hi there, for a comprehensive home security system within your $2k-$3k budget, I recommend combining the Swann 8-Channel Security System with battery backup for your camera needs, and either the SimpliSafe Security System or DSC PowerSeries Neo for alarms and sensors. Swann provides extensive camera coverage with night vision and motion detection, while SimpliSafe and DSC offer reliable alarms, door/window sensors, and keypads for easy control. Ensure all systems are hardwired where possible, and consider an APC UPS Battery Backup to keep everything operational during power outages. This setup should provide robust protection, covering all critical areas and ensuring you receive alerts and wake-up alarms effectively.
To protect your home, invest in a hardwired alarm system with loud alerts, motion detectors, door/window sensors, a DVR camera system, and outdoor lighting. Consider professional installation for complex setups. Research reputable brands and prioritize your family’s safety.
