Hey everyone, my company is new to the commercial alarm business. We mainly do IT work, but now we have a client who’s having an issue with their alarm panel. The old installer isn’t helping, and I need to set the time on a Honeywell Vista 128bpt. We don’t have the installer or master code. Any suggestions on how to reset it?
You’re in a tough spot. It’s kind of like getting a laptop without the admin info. Are there any hard resets available? You can try calling Honeywell support, but don’t expect an easy fix. If they have a lot of hardwired zones, it might just be better to replace the panel. Personally, I’d suggest switching to DMP—they’re made in the US, not too expensive, and the app is easy to use, which is good for businesses.

Oh, I forgot to mention—if it’s still connected to the network, the old security company might disconnect or reset the panel if there’s a payment issue or a dispute. Best bet is probably just replacing it. Commercial customers don’t usually mind as long as it’s fixed.

Thanks! This wasn’t the answer I was hoping for, but it’s all helpful info. Really appreciate the support and being part of such a great community!

If you’re a new company, DMP might not let you become a dealer yet.
You’ll need to backdoor it. What kind of communicator are you using? If you’re already putting in a new communicator, you might just want to replace the whole panel.

Would you be willing to walk me through what the process looks like? I can send you a coffee or beer for your time.
