Anyone have suggestions for a sleek camera to replace a peephole?

I want to swap out the old peephole on my front door for a camera. My main preference is something with as little visible equipment inside as possible. I’m not a fan of bulky screens or digital gadgets sticking out.

Has anyone found something that fits this idea?

You could try a Ring peephole camera, and maybe get an extra battery to swap out. You can watch and listen safely from your phone, even when you’re not home. Another option would be mounting a camera high up facing the door, or even using a Ring doorbell camera.

I appreciate the suggestion. I did check out the Ring cameras, but I’m really just looking for something to replace the peephole itself.

I feel fine standing behind my door and don’t understand why some people don’t.

I understand, but the issue is that most doors don’t offer much protection if someone knows you’re behind them. Plus, doors can be kicked in easily. You could end up being hurt or not have enough space to react quickly enough.

Why not just get a bulletproof door? Problem solved. /s

It does sound a bit like a John Wick situation though.

I live in a pretty safe country (not the USA), so I’m not too worried about that.

If all you need is to see outside, check out the DS Door Scope. It’s completely mechanical, so no electronics, and gives a much better view than a typical peephole. It does flip the image, though.
