I’m just using these for low-load devices, not major appliances. A lot of smart plugs are bulky and won’t fit two on a single outlet.
Sometimes I want to control multiple devices with one smart plug, like two lights, but end up daisy chaining power strips just to get everything connected. I know adding multiple smart plugs and syncing them is one way to go, but that gets pricey quickly.

Meross has compact single plugs with power monitoring, rated up to 13 amps in the UK. They’ve been reliable with my home assistant setup, though their bulbs can be a bit fussy.

Meross also has dual outlet plugs in the US, so you can control two things with one plug if you don’t mind using a 2 or 3-plug expander.
Meross and Kasa have smart surge protectors. I use a Kasa surge protector for desk gadgets like my amplifier and chargers. Or you can get a 10-pack of 8-inch extension cords to use with a regular surge protector.
