one-way films work during the day due to outside light reflecting back, but at night when it’s bright inside, it flips and gives no privacy. there are options like outdoor lighting, frosted films, or decorative films for partial privacy. might have to try a mix of methods until tech catches up!
@Noel
best answer is probably a little tint on the inside and outside lighting. heads up though - if the light’s too close, it can shine right through.

solid advice! and makes it easier to apply regular tint instead of those pricier films.
i had this on my car back in 2006! now i can’t find it anywhere. hoping the place i got it from is still around.

also got a darker tint on my car recently and it looks just as nice.
@Jameson
sounds perfect for what i need. thanks!
pdlc smart film is an option but pricey; you can adjust privacy with a switch.

very interesting film.
also hunting for a one-way film that’s easy to install for a thermatru door set.
if you put the one-way film on both sides of a window, would it work both ways? curious if anyone has tried.
i was on this search myself and found some options outside the US that might help.

also, here’s another idea i found about improving privacy window films.
if you put a bright led string outside the window, would that help the film work at night?
i’m looking for something like the privacy screens they use on phones, where you have to look straight at it to see through. would love this on my windows to keep a view without seeing the neighbors.
sounds like you need curtains.
ever tried perforated vinyl or sheets? you can stack layers for better privacy.
