Advice Needed for Choosing a DVR for Reolink Cameras

Hi Everyone,

I recently moved into a new home where the previous homeowner had installed several Reolink cameras but didn’t leave behind a DVR. I have 8 coaxial cables all running to one location where the DVR used to be. My question is, what type of DVR do I need to use these cameras? All the NVRs I see are for network cables. Will a 3rd party DVR work?

I’m new to this, coming from a Vivint home security setup at our last home, where they handled all our IT needs. I want to make sure I purchase the right equipment to get these cameras up and running. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You’ll need an analog DVR (not NVR) since your Reolink cameras use coaxial cables. Make sure the DVR supports the same video format as your cameras (like TVI, AHD, or CVI). A third-party DVR can work, but check compatibility to ensure it fits your setup.
